On Saturday 11th May 2019 Pagewood Botany Football Club (PBFC) played Waverley Old Boys Football Club (WOBFC) in the Annual Dimos Mastoris Day, for the Dimos Memorial Shield.

 

Celebrating Dimos, fondly known as Dimi, who passed away whilst playing for PBFC in 2005. The day is set up around PBFC playing WOBFC from the under 6s group through to under 14s. There is a special match which is played annually between the Windgap Warriors and Pagewood Life Members - attracting families of special needs individuals. PBFC Patron Matt Thistlewaite MP presented the Windgap Foundation with the winner’s cup for their superb win 6-3.

 

As major sponsors of the club, the NGFarah team attended the event alongside other sponsors and local partners.

Julia Chernoukha, Secretary of PBFC said that “the day was a huge success with many people coming together to celebrate Dimi's life.

 

“The Shield was played in the best spirit and came down to a result in the last few minutes of the game - Waverley being victorious.

 

“The Dimos Mastoris Award was presented to local, dedicated clubman Marquis Abela – emotions were high as Marquis was playing alongside Dimi when he passed away.”

 

Julia adds. “we are proud of our club and how we honour Dimi's life - we hope to keep this tradition for Dimi and his family for many years to come.”
